Our Instructor staff includes several high ranking members of our Instructor community. As well as being talented martial artists, our instructors are certified at the United Studios of Self Defense Teaching Academy.

Karen Mahoney

Karen is the Chief Instructor of United Studios of Self Defense Burlingame. She teaches men, women, and children ages 4 and above. She enjoys teaching in the Burlingame community and likes teaching birthday parties, hosting karate movies nights, and getting students prepared for their tournament. She has been with USSD since 1998, teaches kempo karate and cardio kickboxing.

The 5 Principles of U.S.S.D.

Effort - Putting forth an exertion of strength physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Etiquette - Conventional Code of good manners which governs behavior
in society.
Sincerity - Honesty of mind or Intention: truthfulness.
Self-Control - Control over impulses, emotions and weaknesses. Do what you have to do.
Character - The person you really are when no one is looking;
total qualities that make you up as an individual.
